Waste tires are organic waste composed of natural rubber, synthetic rubber, carbon black, and steel wire — a high-quality feedstock for the circular economy. The challenge in achieving comprehensive utilization of waste tires lies in efficiently separating and reusing these components. Pyrolysis technology enables a chemical reaction under oxygen-free or oxygen-deficient conditions, breaking down high-molecular polymers into smaller molecules to achieve true chemical recycling. Currently, most pyrolysis projects worldwide still rely on batch equipment, which cycles through feeding, heating, discharge, and cooling repeatedly — resulting in high energy consumption, low efficiency, and difficulty in scaling up. Niutech’s industrially continuous pyrolysis production line, independently developed, has broken this pattern. The production line consists of eight major systems: intelligent feeding, continuous pyrolysis, condensation and separation, flue gas purification, intelligent discharge, and fully automated control. It enables 24-hour uninterrupted operation, with a single-unit processing capacity of 10,000 to 50,000 tons per year — several times more efficient than previous-generation equipment. The system can operate for up to 8,000 hours annually, providing an industrial-scale production model for circular economy projects.

The core challenge of tire pyrolysis lies in three industry-wide bottlenecks: easy cokingof the pyrolysis system, difficulty in maintaining dynamic sealing during feeding and discharge, and the tendency of output products to polymerize. These three global problems have long constrained the industry’s development. Niutech has addressed them through proprietary heat dispersion technology, anti-coking technology, and hot gas sealing technology, ensuring uniform heating at lower temperatures and achieving thorough cracking with a pyrolysis rate of up to 99.5%. The entire production line is equipped with an intelligent control system that monitors and dynamically adjusts nearly 20,000 process parameters in real time, producing pyrolysis oil of stable quality that is well-suited for further processing.

Chemical recycling is fundamentally different from traditional pathways such as retreading, reclaiming rubber, and rubber powder. Pyrolysis-based chemical recycling breaks waste tires down into basic raw materials, which can then be used to manufacture new products. Taking Niutech’s equipment as an example: waste tires are crushed and continuously fed into the pyrolysis reactor, where precise temperature control is applied under micro-negative pressure and oxygen-free conditions. The process yields high-quality pyrolysis oil, recovered carbon black, steel wire, and non-condensable gas. The recovered carbon black, after modification, can be directly used in the manufacturing of new tires — forming a true “tire-to-tire” closed-loop cycle. In a demonstration project processing 100,000 tons of waste tires annually, the output includes 43,000 tons of pyrolysis oil, 35,000 tons of carbon black, and 12,000 tons of steel wire. The non-condensable gas generated is fully recovered and used for the system’s self-heating, achieving energy self-sufficiency. Based on actual operational data, each ton of waste tires processed by Niutech’s continuous pyrolysis equipment reduces carbon emissions by approximately 1.1 tons, lowers comprehensive energy consumption by over 30% compared to traditional processes, and keeps processing costs at less than 30% of the industry average.

Global attention to the circular economy and carbon emissions is accelerating. The EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan explicitly identifies pyrolysis technology as a key pathway for rubber waste recovery, and several countries have introduced green procurement standards for carbon black and pyrolysis oil. Niutech’s equipment has obtained EU CE certification, German TÜV certification, EU ATEX explosion-proof certification, and ISCC International Sustainability and Carbon Certification. The project outputs comply with the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) requirements, and emission indicators outperform both EU EEA and US EPA standards. Niutech has become the first continuous pyrolysis equipment manufacturer in China to simultaneously meet this series of standards.

The core problem Niutech solves is that batch pyrolysis equipment cannot achieve large-scale, stable, and low-cost comprehensive utilization of waste tires. Niutech’s industrially continuous waste tire pyrolysis production line has been deployed at a commercial scale in more than 20 countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Denmark, South Korea, Brazil, Hungary, and Turkey, with multiple projects operating continuously and stably for over 10 years. Choosing Niutech’s technology and equipment means finding a proven pathway to industrial-scale implementation.
